Celebrating Christmas with Grandpa and Grammie
I think I mentioned it in a previous post, but Mike's parents moved to Nashville at the end of the summer. They still have their house here, and can fly for free since Rick is a retired pilot, so they come back to visit every month or two. This month, they came the week before Christmas to spend a few days with us to celebrate the holiday.
While they were here, Grandpa helped Connor make this awesome snow cave...
When the snowplows clear the roads, they always dump all their snow right in front of our house, making a big mound of snow. Every year, Connor talks about trying to hollow it out to make a snow cave. Well, this year, Grandpa finally helped make it a reality. Rick did the hard work of hollowing out the inside. He stuck his face in as far as he could go & went to town with a shovel clearing out snow. Snow would fall on his face as he'd do it, and when he'd get to the point where he was having a hard time breathing, he would signal to the kids that they needed to pull him out by the legs. Haha! Now, if that's not love, I don't know what is!! The snow cave ended up being big enough for four kids to be inside at the same time. They solidified the ceiling by spraying water on it. With the frigid air we had in place at the time, this instantly turned it to ice, making it stronger. It was pretty fun to see. Connor was the envy of all the boys in the neighborhood...
The last night they were in town, we all went to dinner at Golden Corral (the boys were in heaven), and then we came back and opened gifts with them...
They gave Vivvie a set of all the princess Barbie dolls...
She squealed like you wouldn't believe! She loved them and has played with them every day since...
The boys got a bunch of Legos...
And Skylanders...
And figures...
And a bunch of other stuff too...
They were all spoiled, for sure! It was great to have Grandpa and Grammie come visit us for a few days. They'll be back out in February for another visit. --Lindsay
