8 Months Already!

Cohen turned 8 months old on Thursday! I can't believe how fast his first year is flying by! We love our little Nutter Butter (by the way, "Nutter Butter" is his latest nickname. Coconut got shortened to Nut...which then somehow became Nutter Butter. Poor kiddo!) Anyway, here's what Nutter Butter has been up to this month:

***He can splash water VERY far! He has hit every wall in his bathroom, I think!

***He looks like a little baby bird when you feed him. He will have barely swallowed a bite & already has his mouth open begging for more!

***He can scream EXTREMELY loud!!! (especially when said food that was previously mentioned, is not fed in a manner that he feels is timely)

***He loves to be thrown up in the air by Daddy & giggles like crazy when he comes back down.

***He likes to try to walk when we hold his hands, but isn't very good at it yet.

***He is still trying to figure out the crawling thing. He just can't get his legs to work very well yet, & has discovered it is just easier to roll to whatever it is that he wants.

***He loves to play with his brothers!

***He sleeps like a CHAMP! 2 or 3 good naps a day, plus sleeping through the night!

***He is an excellent clapper, but won't do it on demand (like when we want him to perform for friends or family). He only does it when HE feels it's appropriate (like during the sacrament)!

***He can sport a super cool faux hawk (pictures of said faux hawk at the end of the post).

***And, he's super cute! Here's the monthly proof that I always provide...

Love you cute monster man! PLEASE just stop growing up right now! Thanks! --Mommy

Twilight-Tastic!

Okay, so last night, we had another AWESOME girls night! We all went to Melanie's house, ate pizza & then watched "Twilight". As you ALL know, I love the books, but am not a huge fan of the movie...in fact, I hated it! I thought it was super corny at times! I was hoping that the second go-around would be better...but alas, no. So, the girls & I compiled our favorite cheesy one-liners of the movie. Here they are...

(Disclaimer: If you are a huge fan of this movie, please just push the little x in the top, right-hand corner of your screen right now before I offend you. That way, our friendship can be saved!)

10. Bella: How old are you? Edward: Seventeen. Bella: How long have you been seventeen? Edward: A while.

9. Jessica: Bella! Guess who just asked me to prom. I totally thought Mike was gonna ask you, actually. Um, it's not gonna be weird though, right? Bella: No, no. Zero weirdness. You guys are great together. Jessica: I know, right?

8. Bella: Are you going to tell me how you stopped the van? Edward: Yeah. Um... I had an adrenaline rush. It's very common. You can Google it.

7. Edward: It means if you're smart... you'll stay away from me. Bella: Okay, let's say for argument's sake that I'm not smart. (which she is NOT...stupid, stupid girl!)

6. Bella: Look, You gotta give me some answers. Edward: Yes. No. To get to the other side. Uh, 1.77245... Bella: I don't need to know what the square root of pi is.

5. Edward: I don't have the strength to stay away from you anymore. Bella: Then don't. (I'm sorry but I gagged a little at this point...sorry!)

4. Carlisle: [to Edward, when he is attacking James] Remember who you are (was this written by a Mormon, or what?) :)

3. Jessica: Hey you're from Arizona right? Bella: Yeah. Jessica: Aren't people from Arizona supposed to be like, real tan?

2. Bella: Your eyes were, black the last time I saw you, and now they're like, golden brown... Edward: Yeah I know it's the uh, it's the flourescents, um. Ugh. (walks off)

And, the #1 cheesy one-liner of "Twilight"...

1. Edward: And so the lion fell in love with the lamb. Bella: What a stupid lamb. Edward: What a sick, masochistic lion.

Thanks for a fun night gals! And, my apologies to any & all of you that I have forever offended by this point! --Lindsay

Rugby & PF Chang's

Yesterday, we went to the USU v. UVU rugby game to watch my sister's husband, Dan, play. Rugby is still a very bizarre game that I don't understand very well. All I know is that, by the end of the game, one guy's head was bleeding really bad, another had a concusion and kept falling down when he would walk, & every single one of the players were black and blue! But, apparently, it is fun to get beat up...

We had fun watching them get beat up, while eating Krispy Kreme doughnuts! Yummy...

Unfortunately, USU lost...but it was still a fun game to watch!
After the game, we went to PF Chang's for dinner...

Delicious, as always! I love that place...

It was a fun day! Sorry this post was extremely short...I just haven't been in much of a blogging mood lately. --Lindsay

Apartment 18 Reunion

On Friday night, we were able to get together with all my old roommates from BYU. It was such a blast! Unfortunately, there are no pictures because my camera battery was dead. Oh well, what can you do? We met up at the Ashton's cabin at Sundance for our little party...and when I say "cabin", I really mean "huge, monstrous, enormous castle". When we first pulled up, Connor said, "That's not a cabin! That's a mansion!!!" And he wasn't kidding! The thing was 18,000 square feet!!! Holy cow! It took us about 30 minutes just to take the tour of the darn thing! The dining room, by itself, was probably bigger than my entire house! It was incredible, to say the least!

Anyway, we ate dinner & then sat around and talked, while the kids played Wii, put on plays on the stage, played on the train, drove the racing arcade game, and played air hockey & pool. They had a blast!

It was a ton of fun! I really wish I had been able to take pictures! I love my old roommates! We all became great friends when we lived together and have stayed that way ever since. It's funny to me because when you look at the 8 of us, we are all SOOOOOOOOOOOO different from each other!

As I mentioned, my camera battery was dead so I couldn't take any pictures. Because of this, I have dug deep into the photo archives to bring these LOVELY images of us back in the day. Before you judge, just remember that it was the late-90s. You probably looked pretty darn stupid too.

Courtney, Danielle, me & Kristy getting ready to go to the N'Sync concert! Yeah baby!!

Jackie with some of her hot men (can't remember either of their names, sorry)

Mel & I toasting to something (hopefully, a better hairdo for me in future years)

Mel using Kristy as an armrest

Courtney, Kristy & Danielle

Me with the flowers I planted in our little tiny flower garden (and Kristy popping her head out of the door)

Jackie is going to LOVE me for this one...but it was so Jack!

I don't even understand this picture...I just remember that it was taken after a long night of karaoke. Remember Jason Stephens singing "Desire" & crawling across our floor? Good times!

This was one of the many cats that lived with us. Courtney & Kristy were Animal Science majors so they were always bringing cats home to live with us. I remember hiding one in my bed from our landlord. Haha!

Mel, me & Kristy sitting on Jeff's mustang. If you know Jeff, you know why this picture is so funny!

Brent (basically one of our roommates), me & Mel just hanging out (probably waiting for "New York Bond" to start)

This is the only picture of Elizabeth I could find (probably because she didn't live with us very long because got married the second she entered "the most important decade of eternity")

Courtney & me on our graduation day

All of us (except Elizabeth who probably had 2 kids at this point) at dinner. LeAnn...this is my only picture of you too, which doesn't make any sense to me. Maybe you were always the photographer, I don't know.

Love ya girlies! Thanks for making 1997-2000 some of the most fun & bizarre years of my life! You guys rock! --Lindsay

Call Me...

As Blondie famously sung:

Call me
Call me anytime
Call me for a ride
Call me for some overtime
Call me in my life
Call me in a sweet design
Call me for your lover's lover's alibi
Call me on the line
Call me anytime
Call Me

That is one of the greatest songs of all time (or at least one of the greatest of 1980)! I don't know what it is about that song, but I have always loved it. And, this cute little green phone pictured above is bringing back all sorts of teenage memories of talking on the phone for hours with my fingers tangled in the cord...good times!

Anyway, the purpose of me quoting Blondie is to tell you that the next time you "call me", you'll need a different number. See, our phone company is TOTALLY overpriced & I'm sick and tired of paying for their crappy service. So, when my awesome sister told me I could get a home phone through T-Mobile for only $10 a month (thank you Fruitcake), I said (um...screamed), "Sign me up!"

However, since our phone company is owned by the city that we live in, they supposedly don't have to follow the FCC's new rules about transferring phone numbers. And, I don't have the time or the energy to check into whether or not their lame-o claims are really legit. Therefore, I will (as of Monday) have a new phone number.

I am, for obvious reasons, not going to post it on here. We will have both our old number & our new number connected for the next week. At that point, I'm cutting the lame-o phone company off, so make sure I give you our new number before then. Both Mike & my cell phone numbers will stay the same, so you can reach us on those as well. So, feel free to "call me anytime"...and don't forget to dial 801 first. Is this lame 10-digit dialing bugging the crud out of anyone else, or am I the only one? --Lindsay

My Children...The "Potty Mouths"

The other day, Connor & Aiden were arguing over something (what's new, right?). I wasn't paying much attention to them at that moment, until Connor came to me all upset and said, "Mom! Aiden just called me "the C word"!"

The C word!?! Oh my gosh! I was mortified! How did my 3-year-old & 6-year-old know what "the C word" was? I'll be honest with you, I didn't even know what "the C word" was until a few years ago (yes, I know I've lived a sheltered life). I heard Dr. Phil talking to some husband about how vial it was to call your wife "the C word". I had no clue what he was talking about, so when Mike came home that evening, I forced him to tell me what "the C word was". So, you can imagine my surprise when my my 6-year-old came to me & told me that my 3-year-old had just called him "the C word"!

I replied, "The C word? Are you sure he called you 'the C word'?"

"Yes mom," Connor replied. "He called me 'the C word'!"

"How do you guys know what 'the C word' is?" I asked.

"Everybody knows 'the C word' mom! You told us never to call each other 'the C word'!" he said.

What? I never had a conversation with my children about 'the C word'! How could I have told them to never call each other 'the C word' when I had never had a conversation with them about it? What was going on here?

"Okay, " I said. "Well, why don't you tell me what 'the C word' is." I replied.

"It's a really bad word mom! We're never supposed to say it!" he said.

"It's okay to say it right now," I replied. "I need to know exactly what word you are talking about so that we can talk about it."

"Okay," he said. "He called me a...CHICKEN!"

Haha! I can not tell you how relieved I was to hear the word "Chicken" come out of his mouth!

Since this conversation, I have also heard my children talking about "the S word" & "the D word"...which translate to "Stupid" and "Dumb" respectively.

So, if my children are ever over at your house and you hear them talking about "the C, S or D words", you'll know what they are talking about. As Inigo Montoya would say, "I do not think it means what you think it means". Haha! I love that movie! Sorry, that was a totally random tangent to end on... --Lindsay
