Two Years & Three Months

That's how old Vivvie is right now.  Why is that significant, you ask?  Because I've always been pregnant with my next baby by this point.  And, guess what???  I'm not!!!  That is all!  {{Happy Dance}}  --Lindsay

Connor's GRAND Project

I mentioned a few posts ago that Connor was working on his 4th Grade County project--which is why we took our short vacay down to Grand County last month.  Well, after weeks & weeks of hard work, we finally finished it just in time for the "County Fair" on Monday.  Each student had to make a county booklet, tri-fold posterboard & three creative projects about their county.  Connor's first creative project was a puzzle that, when put together, was a map of Grand County.  You can sort of see it in the picture at the end of this post, but unfortunately, I didn't take a close-up of it when it was put together.

His 2nd creative project was a mini float.  This is how it turned out...

Pretty impressive, eh?!?  Connor did 90% of this himself by just looking at a picture, with a little supervision & guidance from his engineer daddy.  Connor is quite the little artist.  I couldn't believe my eyes when he was done.  It looks just like the real thing!  He bent a metal hanger into the basic shape, then covered the hanger with tin foil, then put an air-dry clay on top of that, & then painted it with orange & brown finger paints.  Amazing!!!

And, last but certainly not least, was creative project #3--the commercial we filmed when we went down to Moab last month.  My co-worker & friend, Jason Smith (or Sauce, as we call him) was kind enough to edit the whole thing together for us.  He took our pathetic videography skills & turned it into the coolest creative project in 4th Grade history--I'm almost positive of it!  It was awesome!  You can watch it here.  But beware, you'll want to go to Grand County after watching it.

Connor presented his county at the school's "County Fair" at school on Monday.  The parents & other grades came & were able to listen to the Connor & the other 4th Graders teach about Utah's various counties.  Here he is with his presentation board & creative projects (you can see the puzzle lying on the desk next to the iPad)...

Connor's project was quite the hit with all the kids!  I kept hearing them say, "Hey!  That kid over there has a movie you can watch about his county" and "Let's go watch that movie again."  It was cute.  Connor was the man of the hour--and loved every minute of it, I might add.

So, that was Connor's GRAND county project--for which he got a 50/50!  Yay for 100%! So, glad it's done!  Now, I don't have to think about this parent homework project again for three years until Aiden is a 4th Grader.  Here's hoping he gets assigned a county as awesome as Grand.  I'm scared he'll get one like Millard, Tooele or Piute Counties.  I have no clue what we'd do then.  Pretty sure there's nothing in any of those places except cows & barren wasteland.  --Lindsay

A Memorable Mother's Day

Mother's Day weekend was amazing!  I loved every minute of it.  It started out with my Mother's Day present being delivered on Friday!  I have been drooling over this entertainment center at Bassett Furniture for months now.  It is in the same collection as my new dining room table (that I still haven't posted pictures of yet...I'm waiting for the crown molding & curtains and then I'll post pictures.) I wanted to buy it so bad, but the price tag was a little more than I could stomach.  Well, my mom called me a few weeks ago & told me that it was on sale for 42% off!!!  That was an even better deal than I got on my dining room set, which was 30% off.  So, Mike decided to get it for me for Mother's Day.  And, as luck would have it, it was delivered just in time.  Isn't it pretty?  I love how it just fills that huge wall.  It always looked so ridiculous with our little TV stand.  I think this entertainment center just makes the room look complete.  Now I just need to find some things to put inside the cabinets that have glass fronts...

After the entertainment center was delivered, Mike & I went to Cohen's Mother's Day program at his preschool.  I always love this program.  It's filled with super cute mommy songs that always bring a tear (or two) to my eyes...

On Saturday evening, we all headed up to Mike's parents house for a Mother's Day barbecue.  I was even able to go up there in between shows.  Brian was home for the weekend, so it was fun to see him.  We just sat around, eating & talking, for several hours.  It was a nice evening.

On Sunday, I was excited for our morning show.  My producer asked my co-anchor & I to get both our moms to come on the show with us.  After a little a lot of begging & pleading, they agreed.  We had the Park City Waldorf Astoria Spa come in & pamper them throughout the show.

But, our producer had some additional Mother's Day plans...plans that neither Amy nor I knew about.  During our normal cooking segment, our guest chef said he had a "secret ingredient" for his recipe.  When he said that, our husbands & kids walked into the kitchen set.  We were both so surprised, as you can probably tell by the looks on our faces...

The kids had little chef aprons on, and they helped Chef Evan with the rest of the segment...

It was so cute & fun!  Unfortunately, both my microphones (I had two) decided to stop working during the segment, so the audio wasn't great, but the segment was still darling.  Here are some of the kids after the cameras turned off.  Silly kiddos...

It was pure chaos--to say the least...

Once the show was over, we all enjoyed the yummy brunch that Chef Evan made for us & then went to my parents' church to hear my Dad speak.  After that, we went back to my parents' house & just hung out for several hours.  By mid-afternoon, everyone headed up to Ashlee's house for Mother's Day dinner & I went to work.  But, I was able to go up to Ashlee's house for a couple of hours in between shows as well.  It was great!

So, that was my Mother's Day weekend in a nutshell.  It was so much fun & full of surprises!  I love my four little munchkins that made me a mama!  It truly is the best job in the entire world!  --Lindsay
