Cohen's Fall Soccer Season

Cohen had a great fall soccer season.  He played with kids his own age and size this year, rather than playing a year up like he had been doing the past couple years, and I think it was really good for him.  Here's some pictures from the season of our cute #5...

Cohen's friend Parker put his arm around Cohen.  Love it...

I freakin' love his face here--such determination...

What a handsome kiddo...

A team picture...

Cohen had a great season!  He was much more aggressive this year than he's ever been--probably because he wasn't playing against kids that were almost a foot taller than him.  He had a great coach, and really enjoyed the season.  He'll play on this same team in the spring.  --Lindsay

Mike's Surprise 40th Birthday Party

Mike turned 40-years-old on November 1st.  I decided that a big birthday like that deserved a big party, so I planned a surprise party for him.  To throw him off that anything was going on, I decided to hold it several days before his actual birthday--October 29th.  As far as he knew, our friends, Brad and Lisa, called us up that afternoon and invited us to dinner at their favorite little Thai place.  What he didn't know was that I had been planning this party for months, with the help of Brad and Lisa, as well as my sisters and mom.  Mike was shocked when he walked in the door...

We totally surprised him!  He didn't suspect a thing...

There were so many people there!  Someone counted and there were a little over 50 people--all crammed into our house...

Some of the decor for the party.  I bought everything ahead of time, and stored it at Kristin's house.  Then she and my mom came over after we left for dinner and got everything all ready...

Rumbi Island Grill catered the party.  It was really yummy...

Mike visiting with everyone while people got their food...

Not only was this a surprise party, but it was a roast as well.  We made sure Mike was decked out in order to be roasted properly...

Then, one-by-one, several people that are close to Mike came up and roasted him.  Up first was Mike's good friend (and boss) Clint...

Then Mike's Dad roasted him.  Rick and MaeJae had planned to visit earlier in the month, but their trip ended up being delayed because of some health issues, so they ended up in town for the party, totally on accident...

Then Mike was roasted by the king of roasts, my dad--Poppy...

And, then I finished up the roast...

After that, people sat around and visited.  Some people sat on each other--like Mike and our good friend from our old neighborhood, Cameron.  These two are actually November 1st twins, just a few years apart...

It was a really fun party!  It was so fun to surprise Mike, and I was so happy that we had so many people come to celebrate him.  I can't believe Mike is 40!  And, I'm just a few years behind him.  Not sure where all the years have gone, but they've been great years!!  Happy birthday, Mike!  40 never looked so good!!  --Lindsay
