Cohen Turns Five!
Well, my little Coconut is now FIVE-years-old! I have no idea where those years went. It seems like he should be three. But, unfortunately, the calendar--and the fine lines on my face--say otherwise. Cohen is such a cute, happy kiddo! He's always smiling. He is very popular & has tons of friends that just love him to pieces.
Cohen has been talking about turning five for 10 1/2 months. I'm not joking! See, 10 1/2 months ago, Aiden had his birthday, and he wanted his party to be held at Chuck E Cheese. Cohen fell in love with the place. Don't get me wrong--he had been there before. In fact, our family went to dinner there last year for his birthday. But, Aiden's birthday was the first time he had ever been to an actual scheduled birthday party there--where Chuck E makes an appearance and the birthday kid gets to take a turn in the Ticket Blaster. He was hooked! Since that time, he's asked if he could have his fifth birthday party at Chuck E Cheese almost EVERY SINGLE DAY! I'm not even kidding. We would constantly hear, "When I'm five (and ask he said that, he would always hold up five fingers), I'm going to have my birthday party at Chuck E Cheese!" So, it was like Christmas morning for this kiddo when he birthday finally arrived. They put that birthday crown on his head, and he was in heaven...
While our pizza was being cooked, all the kids went to play games and go on rides. Look who actually smiled while on a ride?!? Maybe forcing her to go on rides at Lagoon wasn't such a traumatic thing after all...
After that, we came back to our table to eat pizza. After everyone was finished eating, our party coordinator brought out Cohen's cake...
And then a special guest appeared to wish Cohen a happy birthday...
Cohen got to play "air guitar" to Chuck E's birthday song...
Then he blew out the candles on his cake. I'm not sure what he wished for, since his wish of having a Chuck E Cheese birthday party had already come true...
Cohen & Chuck E...
Chuck E with all the party guests...
Yummy cake...
Then it was on to presents...
He, of course, got spoiled...
Yep, totally spoiled...
And then he got to take a turn in the Ticket Blaster. I didn't get any pictures of that because my phone died and I had left our camera at home. But, he did great! Ended up coming out of there with almost 400 tickets! Not bad!!
Once everyone was hopped up on pizza & sugar, the kids went to spend their last few tokens and then trade in their tickets for prizes. After that, we all headed home--where I realized just how exhausted I was! It was kind of like herding cats for two hours--trying to get them to the table when it was time to eat & then trying to round them up at the end--but at least I didn't have a mess at my house to clean up after it was all said & done! And, I'd say it was all worth it to finally give that cute boy the birthday party he had been dreaming about for nearly a year!
When we got home from the party, we let him open the presents from us. No pictures of that because I realized that both our camera batteries were dead, and--as mentioned before--so was my phone. Perfect timing, right? But, you probably don't need pictures to figure out that he was spoiled--once again.
I can't believe my baby boy is five-years-old! He is getting so big & grown up. I miss the days when he would be my little cuddle bug. He'll still cuddle from time-to-time, but it's usually when he's totally engrossed in a movie and doesn't realize he's cuddling with you. And, don't even think about giving this boy a kiss! He freaks out!! He always wipes kisses off, and cries if you kiss his back where he can't reach it to wipe it off. His famous line is "I hate kisses!" But, he always says it with a smile! I love this boy to pieces! Happy birthday to my Hot Cocoa!! --Lindsay
