Summertime Haircuts

Mike has always wanted to buzz our boys heads in the summertime.  He says that nothing says "summer" like a buzz cut.  This year, I finally gave in & let him shave the boys.  Here's Cohen's before shot.  Not sure what's up with the crazy eyes.  Maybe he knows what's coming...

During.  I made Mike put the boys in the bathtub to do it so we could contain the mess.  Nothing grosses me out more than hair on the ground...

And after.  Holy cow!  He looks so different...

Okay now on to Aiden.  Here he is before with his crazy mop (and pulling a crazy face as well)...

During.  Mike buzzed the sides first so Aiden could have a mullet for about 2 seconds...

After.  What the what?!?  Seriously not even the same kid...

All the damage--which, by the way, I made Mike sweep up.  I don't want all that hair clogging up my drains!  The only thing grosser than hair on the ground is wet hair clogging up the drain...

Once those two boys were done, Connor chickened out & wouldn't let Mike buzz him.  I don't blame him--it is quite the shock to go from lots of hair to hardly any.

Mike wants to make this a summer tradition for our family.  I'm not so sure.  I just don't know if I'm a fan of the military look.  Now that it's grown out a little bit, I'm starting to like it more.  Just not sure if I want to make this a summertime tradition in the Storrs' household.  One time may have been enough for me!  --Lindsay

Father & Sons Campout

A few weeks ago, Mike, Poppy & the boys all went to our ward's Father & Sons Campout.  This post will be full of lots of pictures, but not a whole lot of commentary because I wasn't there & I don't know much about what went on--I don't know if I *want* to know what went on!  I promise Poppy was there...he's just absent from all the pictures because he was apparently the designated photographer of the event.  But there are lots of pictures of these four...

In most of the pictures, they are just doing weird things & being goofballs...

Everyone seemed to sleep well that night--even Mike said slept good, which really surprised me!  Then next morning, they all enjoyed a yummy breakfast of pancakes & eggs...

And then the boys & their friends played on this stone wall...

And they're boys, so you know that sticks around going to be involved at some point.  Why are boys so attracted to sticks?!?

They then used those sticks to have sword fights...

After the camp was all packed up, they decided to hike to Stewart Falls.  Here are the boys looking at something just off the trail.  Probably a snake, wild animal or poisonous spider--like I said, I don't want to know...

So that was the Father & Sons Campout for the year.  A big thanks to Poppy for going with all of them!  With Mike's shoulder being all messed up, I'm not sure if they would have been able to go this year if he hadn't been willing to go.  I don't think Mike would have been able to set up the tent or anything on his own. Plus, Poppy's just a fun guy to have around!  And, had he not gone, I wouldn't have had any pictures to blog!  I'm glad they were able to have such a great time!  --Lindsay

Baby Landon

We have a new addition to the family!  Kristin & Dan just had their first baby about a week and a half ago.  He is so stinkin' cute!  I got to meet him just a few hours after he arrived in the world...

He was a big baby--at least for our family--almost 9 pounds!  Here's the new mama with the babes...

Cohen's 1st T-Ball Season

Cohen played his first season of T-ball this year! He was still too young to play in our city's league, but a friend of mine found another league that accepted younger kids. It cost an arm & a leg, but it was worth it to see these cute boys in their "real" uniforms...

Don't you just want to eat them up?!?  Cohen was on the Orioles team & had a great time!  He loved every second of it, and actually picked up on the game very quickly.  It must be going to all those games of his older brothers, plus all the pretend games played in Poppy's backyard.  Here's some cute pictures from the season.

This kiddo was pretty excited to have his very own trophy.  It even had his name engraved on it...thanks to all the money I paid to sign him up.  But, that smile makes it all worthwhile...

It was such a fun season!  I'm so glad he got the opportunity to play, and that he loved it so much.  I think we have many years of baseball ahead with this boy!  --Lindsay

School's Out for the Summer!

The boys got out of school for the summer at the end of May.  Cohen's last day was May 24th.  He had a great year!  He was lucky enough to have Mrs. Covington as his teacher again & he had a great year!  The last day of school at Learning Dynamics is always Circus Day, so we always take two "last day of school" pictures each year.  One on the day before the last day of school, so we can get a picture of what the teacher *normally* looks like...

And one on the last day of school when the teachers are dressed up like clowns.  I'm pretty sure Mrs. Covington is the cutest clown I've ever seen...

The other little boy in the picture is Zayden, who we have carpooled with this year.  He is a little ham & insisted that Cohen would want him in his picture--which is probably true.

We just found out right at the end of the school year that Mrs. Covington will get to be Cohen's teacher *again* next year!  Yep, that's right...this will be the *third* year she's taught Cohen.  We had initially requested that Cohen have Mrs. White for his 4- & 5-year-old class, but she was recently promoted to become director of the Learning Dynamics Riverton Campus, so she won't be at our school anymore.  I was totally bummed about this because I have been told multiple times what an amazing teacher Mrs. White is & I was so excited for Cohen to be in her class.  But, that disappointment quickly turned to elation when I was told that Mrs. Covington would be taking her spot as a 4- & 5-year-old teacher!  Cohen just loves her to pieces & is so excited to be in her class again next year.

The older boys last day of school was on May 30th.  Connor had a great 4th grade year.  His teacher, Mrs. Johnson, was a new teacher at our school this year, so no one had any idea what to expect, but she turned out to be a great teacher & Connor loved her to pieces!  Here he is with Mrs. Johnson on the last day...

Aiden had a great 1st Grade year too!  He also had a teacher that was new to the school this year--Mrs. Thorpe.  I knew she would be perfect for Aiden when she told me that she was a "mom of boys."  Mrs. Thorpe had quite a few wild & crazy boys in her class this year, and she always seemed to handle it with ease!  Here's Aiden with Mrs. Thorpe on the last day of school...

This year, the parents in the neighborhood continued the tradition of meeting the kids at the entrance to the neighborhood with popsicles as they walked home from school.  It is so fun!  I'm pretty sure we'll always have to continue this tradition because the kiddos really look forward to it every year--including the little kiddos that don't even go to the elementary school yet...

I don't know why they are bumping butts in this picture.  When I told them I wanted to take it, Cohen crouched down & then Vivvie just scooted her bum back to his.  Haha!  I guess she wanted to do what Cohen was doing.  Silly girl!

So far, our summer break has been pretty low-key.  We've been doing a lot of hanging out & playing with friends--which is the way my kiddos prefer it.  I love long & lazy summer days!  --Lindsay
