Lindsay's Dad
Dear Dad,
Just wanted to take a minute to tell you how grateful I am that you are my dad! You are a great dad & pretty cool too! Thank you, thank you, thank you for all that you have done for me!
Thank you, first of all, for indoctrinating me about classic rock from the time I was a baby. I can still sing the lyrics to most Beatles, Pink Floyd, Rolling Stones, & Led Zepplin songs because of you.
Thank you for doing those taped interviews with me when I was a toddler. They are hilarious to listen to!
Thank you for staying up late & listening to the radio, so that you could record "Jump" by Van Halen & "Jessie's Girl" by Rick Springfield for me.
Thanks for teaching me the importance of keeping up with technology...including forcing me to buy "those stupid CD things" when I still wanted to buy cassette tapes. Whitney Houston really DID sound much better in digital!
Thank you for making Ashlee & I "Gem Guitars" so we could "rock out."
Thanks for always taking us on bike rides, even though we rode a lot slower than you wanted to go.
Thank you for always being a good example to me of scripture reading. I remember always seeing you sit in your brown recliner reading & marking them.
Thanks for all your fabulous "girl dances" in the car when we would listen to my "crappy girl music."
Thanks for being "cool" enough to make it into the Canyon View Jr. High School yearbook.
Thank you for all those times you embarrassed me growing up...yes, even the time when you found out I liked a boy, drove up in front of his house, started honking the horn & yelling, "Hey! Lindsay's right here! She likes you & thinks you're pretty cute!" I hated you at the time for it, but now I think it's pretty funny!
Thanks for freaking all my dates out when they came to the door by telling them that they would have to have a PPI with you before they could take me out, then laughing when you saw the look of terror on their faces.
Thanks for not killing me when I went to Las Vegas with a bunch of guys and no parental supervision for UEA.
Thanks for making me "stay vertical!"
Thanks for teaching me the importance of a beautiful yard & that a good bike is a thing of beauty (that you apparently can spend $7000 on without consulting your spouse first).
Thanks for encouraging me to marry Mike. BEST.ADVICE.EVER!!!
Thanks for helping me drive a moving van to Louisiana. I can't drive through Tucumcari, NM without thinking of you! :)
Thanks for teaching me that you really can do anything if you set your mind to it, even riding in a 207 mile bike race every year when you're in your 50s!
Thanks for being a great "Poppy" to my kids. I think they love you more than they love me!
Dad, you are such a great Dad & Poppy! I love you!
Love,
Lindsay
Mike's Dad
Happy Father's Day!!!
Thanks for being the greatest dad ever! I am so grateful for everything you have done. I can't imagine what I would be, or even how I would be, without you. Everything I love I learned from you.
You taught me to be kind and how to serve. In my life, I have never met anyone that has your patience and ability to love.
You taught me to work hard and to learn "by doing." I love to work with my hands because you showed me how. You always included me in you projects, and spent the extra time to teach me and allowed me to make mistakes so I could learn. I love cars, but that love started because I loved the time we spent working on them!
You taught me to serve others and showed me the joy that it brings. (I would have never thought that rubbing an old lady's feet with lotion could have ever brought any joy!) Thanks for teaching me to be humble.
You taught me the gospel by living it, and helped me to know my Savior by being like him. My testimony was built around the many experiences we had in service and the many, many late nights we spent talking.
You are honestly more amazing then I have words to say, but anyone that has ever even just met you knows what I can't put to words.
I love you dad! Thanks for everything!
Mike
