Rained Out...Again!

Yesterday was Aiden's birthday party (yes another one...this time with his friends). We had invited all his friends & their families over for a barbecue & swimming party. Well, wouldn't you know it...for the second time in a week, the heavens opened, the rains came down & the temperature dropped like a rock! What in the world did I EVER do to upset the party gods?!? The day before, it was sunny & 88 degrees. But, on the day of the party, it was rainy & 65 degrees! You'd think that, considering my profession, Mother Nature could help me out a little...but alas, no. It wasn't meant to be! Luckily, the rain had tapered off to a few sprinkles now & then by party time...so we decided to still do the barbecue part of the party. As for the swimming, that was completely out of the question...so instead, the kids played a bunch of classic party games...red rover, duck duck goose & musical chairs (music courtesy of Mike's "lovely" singing voice).

And, the parents (at least the ones that were still outside at this point) watched on...

After dinner & games, everyone came inside for cake & ice cream. Here's Aiden's cake before it was devoured. Pretty cute, huh? It was made with love by...someone who works in the bakery at the grocery store. Yes, I know (sarcastic voice)...I'm SERIOUSLY on track for the mother-of-the-year award!

After cake, it was time for the chaos...oh I mean presents! Aiden was definitely spoiled by everyone!

Overall, I think it ended up being a fun party...no thanks to Mother Nature! But, I think after a week of birthday celebrations, Aiden was a little worn out... (Cohen too)

Next year, maybe we'll just skip the parties all together. But, if I do end up having one, I'll make sure Mother Nature DOESN'T get an invitation! --Lindsay

It seems that every other photo of Aiden is of him asleep! The kid just wears me out watching him. Happy Birthday, Aiden! Love Poppy

You are ambitious - those invitations look just as hard as Cohen's birth announcements! Well, I'm glad the party went well. See you Sunday!

It looks like everyone still had fun! Darn that Mother Nature. Everytime we head up to the mountains, there is a storm. So when you are forecasting for down in our neck of the woods, if there is a storm coming, you can bet that we had plans! :)

Happy birthday dear Aiden!!!!
While you were cursing the weather I was thanking the heavens because 1. the relief from the hot weather is WONDERFUL for my over inflated body and 2. I didn't have to water the bushes and trees two weeks in a row!!! woo hoo.
But I am sorry that your party plans got ruined. It still looks like you had fun.
